Guest Darragh Posted May 22, 2006 hello! at the weekend i changed the steering column on my phase 1 205 because the bearing was totally knackered! i had a column off an XS at home so i fitted that, but used the original wiper indicator stalks. after fitting everything and plugging all the connectors together i decided to give it a test run. as i was out it starded to rain really heavily so i turned the wipers on and my side lights, they worked for a short while but then everything died (wipers, indicators, washer) but the horn still worked. i also noticed a really wierd tapping noise that soundes like its coming from the alternator as the tapping increases with the revs, there is also the battery light on the dash too. not knowing much about electrics i would really appretiate if someone could shed some light on the problem and recomend some things i should do to try and find the fault. thanks! Guest smokinslim Posted May 23, 2006 Might be worth trying another alternator. If its died running lots of electricals at once would drain the battery fairly quick causing everything to cut out. The horn on its own might not need much power. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
