Was on my way home last night when everything on my car just switched off - engine, radio, heater etc. After a tow home and a look under the bonnet, I found that one of the power leads/cables coming from the +ive terminal on the battery has completely corroded and snapped.

I don't know if every 205 is the same but mine has 2 large cables running from the +ive on my battery. One goes under the dizzy somewhere and the other is a short cable which runs to a small black box on the front of my engine bay near the grille. It's this shorter cable which has snapped.

So my question is what does this cable do and how easy will it be to replace? (I am no electrician!) It's obviously quite a hefty cable and looks like I might need to replace the whole thing.

Thanks :D

the 2 cables you spoke of one goes striaght to the starter motor (the one dissapearing under the dizzy) and the other goes to the power distribution block(little black box) and this is where the rest of the car gets its power from. hence why everything stopped if this was broken :D

Replacing it is very staight forward you should find the cable is just attached to the distribution block by a 13mm nut. just undo that and replace the lead. A new lead can be got from a local motor factors for a couple of quid and will have a spade ring on the end. take the broken one with you to make sure the new one is the correct length
