right i have a bit of a complex building up here :D

i have recently brought a peugeot 205 1.8 diesal G reg 1989 model and as you may be aware of the dash clock area isnt the same as the gti and replica versions for instance it doesnt contain the rev counter etc plus the 1.8 diesal dash clock area is split into a lower(dials) and upper(warning/system lights) sections i am very eager to add the gti dash dials etc to my 1.8 and i am thinking the actual surrounding dash is but a matter of removing and replacing but how would i wire up the rev counter and other extras to the 1.8 and to where would i wire them?

please assist me im in very deep confusion here :) and if anyone has already done it and has pics or is able to take pics of theres and with diagrams etc of how i would do it as im only 17 years old and not the greatest guy with cars at the moment lol!

many thanks,

russell

desels use a crank senser on the gearbox to pick up the rev counter signal.not sure how you would wire it in though, the haynes should be able to help you.

also without looking id say ud need to change pretty much the whole dashpack to get the gti clocks in.or replace the clock with the rpm part of a gti dash.

It may be easier to replace the instruments with a higher spec diesel version. There a few people running the better diesels on here who will help I am sure.

The low spec diesels don't have the loom for the rev counter but the sensor is already there iirc so ideally you'll need to find the whole loom to fit the clocks.

I also can't remember from my low spec diesel days if they have a coolant temp sender fitted as they haven't got a guage as standard.

You'll need a set of clocks from a TD & instrument binnacle cowl from either a GTi or TD as it is different to the one on your car presently.

In all honesty its not worth the work imo.

Graham.
