Differences Between Turbo Engines

Recommended Posts

ok i know this was discussed somewhere else with attention to bhp figures, but having now got a different engine ive noticed a lot of differences

this engine is from a xantia, the last was from an xm.

this one seems to have a larger inlet housing on the turbo, bigger rubber elbow going into the turbo, alloy pipes coming out towards the front of engine as opposed to the nasty plastic ones, its got a nifty oil seperator in the breather system ( i actually fitted this part to the xm engine as it didnt have one), revised breather pipes( again a lot similar to how i modified my xm breathers), the engine mount section thats bolts to the block is not covering the cam belt as it does on the xm, theres a metal pipe from the distribution block that runs behind the turbo to the heater matrix (unlike the xm rubber ones that get hot and melt!!!). these are just some differences ive nticed so far.

can some1 also tell me the bhp figures again and which engine prodused which? and where is the engine coed!!! i really cant find it!

Engine code is on the front ot the block, low down in line with oil filter, you may have to scrub away to find it,

earlier RGY = 139 hp

later RGX = 150 hp

sweet... mines an rgx!

so all the differences between my 2 engines, was the older one definatly an RGY? if so... that was bloody quick for 139 bhp!!!

would adding a compression plate to allow high boost on the rgx make it into a rgy then ?
