Rev Counter Lags

Recommended Posts

westy

Hi,

On my 90 (H) plate 1.6 GTi the rev counter is 'behind' so to speak - as at idle, it sits at 0rpm, and hits the rev limiter at a bang on indicated 6000 rpm.

Any particular reason for this? Or is it just a case of repositioning the needle? I'm not sure about the speedo either!

Thanks :(

Has your car got a white dials kit or similar fitted?

Sounds like its been repositioned wrong so it should be a simple job of moving the needle so it reads correctly.

Graham.

They are usually very tight on the spindle so its unusual for them to slip back so it sounds like its been of for some reason (hasit always been like this?)

I've reposition one before when I fitted a white dial kit but had another set to use as a reference to see where the needed settled with the engine off and made sure it sat at around 850rpm at idle (on Mi16).
