notamondayfan 44 Posted May 19, 2006 hey guys, my front passenger side has been rumbling for a while now, and when i had my MOT the guy said i prob should replace the wheel bearing as it was slightly noisy. but ive just read the haynes section on bearings, and it says it only needs replacing if theres any movement. there isnt any movement now ive replaced the pinch bolt at the back of the hub. is haynes correct, or should i go with that the mechanic said. or could this be a drive shaft problem, or anything else? thanks in advance, dean
jonD6B 0 Posted May 19, 2006 You don't always get movement on a bearing thats on its way out. If it's grinding, I personally would replace it.
mattmk1 0 Posted May 19, 2006 I had an intermittent rumble on mine, it turned out to be a combination of a very worn bottom suspension balljoint and a large stone jammed in the lower suspension arm mount. However it only rumbled on cornering or braking.
