Breather Hoses

Recommended Posts

Took off all the hoses to clean them out and assumed I'd remember where they all came from. Car is back together and running fine (very smoothly in fact) but just one thing I was uncertain of. Of the two longer and thinner pipes can I confirm that the one that branches off the thicker oil filler pipe at the sump end is the one that joins to the oil filler pipe again towards the top? And therefore that the thin one that leaves the sump alone goes to the top of the camshaft cover?

thanks

thin hose that comes from the connection on the thick filler hose by the sump goes to the rocker cover.

thin hose from connection by sump goes to the connection on the oil filler main tub.

RyanMoore: On that pic it does not show the pipe coming from the Inletmanifold, only the TB.

Am I being thick here?

becuase the pipes on the inlet manifold are only for the brake servo hose and SAD hose which arent part of that diagram.

I was looking at the drawing (thanks Ryanmoore) of the 8V breather system and cannot understand why it has 2 Crank case breather pipes. Have I missed something?

I was looking to remove the non oil fill pipe and block the crank case hole. Remove the small hose (oil filler cap to intake manifold) and block the manifold hole and use the small outlet on the oil cap to attach a catch tank and have a drain coming back to the hole left by removing the other crank case pipe (rear of filler). The other larger pipe coming from the oil filler cap will also be removed and the holes blocked.

Does this sound ok to you guys.
