Guest Tidybri Posted May 18, 2006 Hi All well i finaly managed to get a picture to explain here it is the clutch cable apears on the left and the odd piece of metal i talk about is on the left. Adam B 0 Posted May 18, 2006 Its just like a link pin thing that sits there and transfers the force from the clutch arm to the thrust bearing release arm. Not actually held in by anything but by the springy-ness of the clutch plate. Better put it back in to make it work... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest Tidybri Posted May 18, 2006 yeah i have put it back and tightened the cable now the clutch sits v high. Higher than both the break and accelerator. Does this mean i need a new cable because if its much looser the car still moves forward when in gear. I have got it quite tight i spose i can losen it a bit but the biteing point is quite low not sure wot my next move is?? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted May 18, 2006 The clutch pedal should sit slightly higher than the brake & accelerator but not by that much, adjust the cable so it sits about 1/2" higher & if the biting point is midway through the pedal travel its fine. I also think im going to have the rear beam looked at at some point 2. Unfortunatly my budget might not cope with this car for much longer so its gonna be of the road for a while at this rate i find another problem everytime i fix 1............ It just cost me £300 for a clutch, but I had the flywheel skimmed plus a new crankshaft seal, plus a new input shaft seal and a bit of engine oil for that price. Guest Quakes Posted May 18, 2006 Dunno if there is one near you but ive always used Mr Clutch http://www.mrclutch.com/ always done it the day i phoned usually ready 4 hours after you drop it off and for the bargain price of £160 all in (clutch and labour) he even fixed my exhaust and door lock without telling me no problems with there clutches either seem very good Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
