Recommended Posts

Evening all, just a uickie to see if anybod knows whether the front calipers off a 1.9 td 405 will fit a 1.9 gti hub? and are they any bigger than the standard items ie bigger disks?

And also the same thing with the 605 2.1td calipers, will they fi a 1.9 gti hub, and i know they are 5 stud disks, but are they bigger than the gti itms? and are there any other disks in the pug range that ar the right diameter/offset to use these calipers with the 4 stud hub?

Cheers guys,

Simon

They will fit but need some dressing on the yokes with a grinder iirc, I think Kev-G posted about this a while ago.

605 bits will be a trial case as I don't know of anyone else that has tried them.

Looking on Brakeworld (although they don't list a 2.1td but a 2.5td 4x4 :)) they vary between older (>3/91) models from 276mm & 283mm (3/91> (dates from brakeparts)).

Unknown mixture on a 205 afaik.

Graham.

Don't know about 405 TD brakes, but on 405 Mi (266mm) you need to grind out the yoke/carrier to clear the CV joint IIRC....Even then the off-set is wrong and it won't fit over the disc (only a small amount in it). Some people claim to grind back the mounting face of the yoke/carrier, but I certainly wouldn't be doing this with a grinder....
