Bump Stops Cups..... Help

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hi,

jusy got my cups for the bumpstaops 2day from pug for 1.99 each, not bad really, anyhow the nuts holdering what was left of my old cup, what a pain to get out!!!!!!!!!!. One came out easy, the other, i gave up, i just put the new cup over the sheared bolt and used a self tapper screw and acrylic sealant to stick it on again.

also order some powerflex bumpstops too so just wondering if you think that the self tapper and acrylic sealant will hold it ok?

just dont want to lose them thats all

hehehehe

thanks

M@tt

i had to attach my new ones with 2 self taping screws as well last weekend as the bolts had rusted solid in their holes so i just ground them off.

i'd whack another screw in if i were you but i'd would have thought other than that you'll be ok as if the trailing arm does make contact with the bumpstop stop it should squash it into the body perpendicular rather than at an angle therefore not placing shearing forces on the screws.

hope that makes sense

theres was already two holes when i got new cup, one big one for main fixing and the smaller on which i used to attach self tapper!!!

i may yet drill another hole on other side to make it strong just waiting to see how this sealant has stuck so may leave if thats solid, my cars lowered not by much thou !!Yay

I'd take M@tts advice and stick atleast one more screw through it.

if youve got a welder or a mate with a welder than try welding another bolt to the the old bolthead and see if they come out then with a big breaker bar attached.
