peter 20 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) Right got some gti6 brakes last week (from a forum member)and started to fit them, however when i came to bolting the yoke to the hub i realised there is no way that they will fit the offset is wrong, so the 1.9 calipers that i asumed were fitted to 1.9 hubs are not they are actualy 1.6 hubs ah well not to worry off to get a set of base model hubs and they dont fit either which for some reason i was convinced fitted but obviously not.So came to the conclusion the only hubs that fit are 1.9 gti or ph1 306 dt finaly found a set in a scrap yard but i also found a 406 12v turbo diesel took a look at the brakes just out of interest and yep you geused it there identical to the set i have had a quick try to fit them on the 306 hubs in the yard and again they dont fit so, is there a way to get them to fit? as they are 283mm etc or perhaps using different yokes? (sorry for the essay) Thanks in advance Peter Edited May 16, 2006 by peter

pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted May 16, 2006 It sounds like your brakes could be from a 406 that are 283mm but don't fit the 205 1.9 GTi hubs. Looks like I have some explaining to do to a mate. Without a set of 306 GTi-6 brakes to check against I wouldn't like to say but it is very likely as easy as a different set of yokes. Graham.

My calipers were off a 406 but they was machined to fit, the discs are off a 206 gti 180! The guy i bought mine off showed me on his car that they will bolt onto the hub and that was a 1.9 gti. Do i have to get the 1.9 hubs and shafts is that the only way?
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted May 17, 2006 just check the piston dia! only the GTi6 brakes have 57mm ones...the rest is all 54mm
Anthony 1,003 Posted May 17, 2006 just check the piston dia! only the GTi6 brakes have 57mm ones...the rest is all 54mm Is that definately true? I only ask because Alan made the same mistake and bought some 406 calipers/yokes (sold as "GTi-6" by someone on here who then refused to give a full refund ), and whilst I didn't measure the pistons, they looked very similar to GTi-6 and had "57" stamped on the caliper... peter 20 Posted May 17, 2006 So all i need is gti6 yokes? I took the 406 calipers off myself they have a 57mm piston and 283mm discs
Anthony 1,003 Posted May 18, 2006 So all i need is gti6 yokes? GTi-6 yokes are silly money from Peugeot - cheaper to buy a complete set of 2nd hand calipers off someone! The disks are different as well, and I'm not 100% sure if the caliper itself is the same or not (it's certainly very similar in appearance though)
peter 20 Posted May 18, 2006 I see, thanks anthony,I will try and get my money back for the calipers even though he is a forum member and he was convinced they are gti6 brakes. anyone got any for sale?
