Whats The Ideal Co Setting?

Recommended Posts

Guest chris1993GTI

Put 205 on gas analyzer today. It's at 2.5 on CO at idle. Is this about right or should I adjust it?

Cheers,

Chris.

CO will be approaching its lowest point when mixture is stoichometric but not at its lowest point, this occurs at a lean mixture, but what you can use is the CO2. CO2 should be at its peak value at Lambda 1 which is what you want to aim for. Because cars equipped with cats give different readings at the tail pipe than what is actually coming out of the engine becuase of the oxidation occuring in the cat, the way to set the mixture by use of a gas analyzer changed a bit in that you looked at different gasses when setting mixture strength with cat equipped cars.
