Mi16 Conversion, Radiator Clearance Issue

Recommended Posts

richystran

I am undertaking a mi16 conversion and was reading the aritcles on the homepage. One reccomends grinding some of the fan surround down so that the mi16 inlet fits in no probs. I have done this but its still too close!

What have i done wrong? Any guides eg pics etc on how to do this? Any other ideas? I DONT want to get a shorter inlet!

Look at the pic below and see the issues i have.

Thanks for any help in advance.

grind more off the fan housing. you need to take quite a bit off, the radiator needs to be almost but not quite touching the fan and even then the inlet mani will be very close to the rad.

I did the same as Anthony and Alan, there is barely anything left of the cowling and grinding back the inlet as shown in the pic above creates a good few mm of clearance

Just don't go too far with the filing on the inlet!! As I found out and created a little hole!!
