GTI_Lee 0 Posted May 14, 2006 hi basically, after about 30mins of driving my 205 i look at the back box and it has moved about 2" - 3" back, giv it a nudge and it falls off, iv looks @ the hooks on the car and they are just 2 pieces of steel rod. anyone else have this p[roblem? could i just bend them up to try and stop it? thanks lee
Guest smokinslim Posted May 14, 2006 The hooks are just there to support the rubber mounts. Are you saying the box is sliding back off the mid pipe? If so you need to do the clamp up tighter methinks mate
Guest cknotty Posted May 14, 2006 If you mean the back box rubber mount is just sliding off the hook and coming off, then my XS does this as well. A quick solution I have found is to slide the back box rubber mount back on, then attach a couple of cable ties to the upper hook. This increases the diameter of the hook and so the rubber mount doesn't slide off. Alternatively you could drill a hole in the upper hook and put an R clip through it to stop the rubber mount sliding off. Hope this helps, Chris
hengti 2 Posted May 14, 2006 if the back box is a sleeve fit over/into the centre section pipe, it probably just needs the clamp tightening (as already said) if you're using a 'u' bolt clamp, be wary of tightening it too much, as this can oval the pipes - mikalor do some very good (but expensive) jubilee type clamps which apply even clamping pressure good idea about cable ties
