Car Fails To Start

Recommended Posts

Guest lombardo

hi, i just put a new gearbox in my car and now the car starts but don't run.

The acm is fine and the pipes where the cold start valve are fine too.

The car was running fine before the new box was put in.

Any ideas?

So it fires then dies?? Best to check a few things really...

- Ecu temp sensor is plugged in, blue plug.

- AFM is plugged in.

- Gearbox earths are secure.

- SAD plug is in, black plug

- All induction pipes are secure, no air leaks.

Will do. I'll let you know how this gets on, its just there are so many cables and plugs flying around the engine its hard to find out which one goes where?

If youve only taken the box off you only need to disconnect one plug and thats the gearbox reverse switch, no others need to be disconnected tbh.

White plug = reverse switch on top of box

Blue plug = ecu temp, side of thermostat housing or at the back depending on year

Black 3 pin= Dizzy fly lead goes into the main engine loom.

Black 2 pin= SAD, cold start, goes in front of thermostat housing near dizzy area.

3 earths, 2 from loom one from battery negative go on top of the box

Large black plug = possibly ignition amp if mounted on pass wing, or AFM.

Hope that helps.

I did use to have a toebar on the back of me car, i took this off but also butchered a few leads which went from the rear lights to the tor bar connecter. Would this cause the car not to start?

Also i have a different iginition coil on the car, but this didnt cause one problem what so ever before the box was changed?

check connections to the ignition module. secure all wires and verify connection between the module and the connector.

Finally it is working. All conectors were fine, the fuel relay could do with renewing but that wasn't the problem with it not starting.

I sound really silly when i quote this but it didn't run because the acm was the wrong way roung lol

Lucky i wasnt to blame, it was the garage it went to.

Just one to keep in mind.

Thanks for the support.
