Rob Turbo 3 Posted May 13, 2006 IIRC the smooth ones can be found on some base models, would probably look better if it was smoothed into the rest of the boot if thats what you like Personally I prefer the standard gti one
pacey205 2 Posted May 13, 2006 Plastic ridged doodah off, couple of pins to remove and a hole to be filled. Depends on the car but I really like it on mine, updates the rear a tad. Michael
Alastairh 47 Posted May 13, 2006 You can get a plastic thing from auto five. Or do what i did: this is under the black panel, there are little metal lugs. Then cut the lugs off, with the angle grinder, and a quick coat of paint to stop rust: Then, badges on: Alastair

Gentrix 2 1 Cars Posted May 14, 2006 so no rear wiper then?? And no Tailgatelock, but the plastic. Nice one. Do you have a close-up of the lockarea of the plastic trim? Did you glue the plastik or did you solder it together? by andi

Guest smokinslim Posted May 14, 2006 Looks real nice that Ashley. I've had a tailgate done for mine, smooth as a baby's bum. The place that did it for me though, it took them six weeks after they'd done the work to decide what to charge for it. By that time i'd already given them £100. They want another £195 on top of that. All they did was add a new skin where the plastic panel is, and a skim with filler. I told them not to bother painting it for another £75, i'll do it myself at those prices.

Foltan 0 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y275/foltan/CNV00024.jpg It was done before i bought it though, so not sure how it was done. I think a piece of metal was welded on and then smoothed in. Really top notch job though, it looks great IMO Edited May 16, 2006 by Foltan
mak 0 Posted May 17, 2006 one I need to flog at the moment, I thought £40 was a bargain given the work involved Smoothed tailgate
