Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted May 13, 2006 I've got a GTi6 lump from a Xsara VTS, so has the 5 speed box attached to it. As far as I know its a BE4 jobbie and has the different clutch mechanism. How the hell do you get it off?
inferno 1 Posted May 13, 2006 take the pin out the clutch arm and remove the arm like on the gti6 6box?
batoutofhell 0 Posted May 13, 2006 yeah it's a pull type clutch. do as above, remove the pin from the release arm so that the fork can spin round. these are a bit of a ballache to put back together in the car so i'd reccomend if ur gonna use it again you build it on the floor lol

PsychoSimon 0 Posted May 14, 2006 have you undone all four bolts and the plate offthe bottom as well? There are dowels in between the engine and gearbox which sometimes give a bit of resistance but nothing a bit of leverage with a screwdriver cant sort. does the gearbox move at all or not? Dixon 1 Posted May 14, 2006 Yeah undo all the bolts between the gearbox and engine, there are 4 from memory but check for a 5th just incase. knock the dowl piece out of the clutch arm and then remove the plastic bit that is in there which will allow it to rotate and should come straight off with some wiggeling! Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted May 23, 2006 Does the plastic bit just pull out though? This is where I am haivng trouble, as the box comes away from the block a bit then no further.
Dixon 1 Posted May 23, 2006 yeah it should just pull out from what I can remember. I had the same problem, could pull it off about an inch but would go no further. had me stumped for ages untill I read a guide on the gti6 forum. its getting stuck on the thrust bearing, remove the plastic bit and it'll just spin out of the way.
