Guest Ictoan Posted May 13, 2006 Hi, hope some one can advise me. The synchro's on the BE1 'box in my 1.6 Gti are very weak so I have another box to put in but as the present box has a quaife ATB I was wondering if it would be easier/quicker to just change the cluster with the box in situ. Is it possible? (It can be done in about 15 minutes like this on a Nova I'm told). If not, does the cluster come out in one piece if you have the box on the bench? Or will we have to just take the box out and change the diff? Any help appreciated. Tim
batoutofhell 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Des developments reckon it's easier to do change the diff with the box on the bench. I should imagine you old be able to change it in the car - but it certainly isn't as easy as the nova f10/f13 type. I think the cluster comes out in one piece. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted May 13, 2006 You always change the diff with the box in the car, Only takes 30-60 mins or so, You can change some parts in the box but unless you know whats what it's best to take it off
Guest Ictoan Posted May 14, 2006 The diff is OK, it is the synchromesh that isn't. I was just hoping that by undoing a couple of bolts that the cluster would come out meaning the box it self could stay put. Just trying to make the job easy, but looks like it will have to be the whole box coming out. Thanks, Tim
