205 Automatic Headlight Loom Same As Gti?

Recommended Posts

batoutofhell

Hi all,

As you know pyschosimon had a loom meltdown this weekend. He has asked me to put up as to whether the auxillary/headlight loom is the same in our 205 automatic shell as it is in the gti.

We have disconnected it all from the auto and it looks the same with the addition of a couple of single connectors for the auto box.

This is the loom that powers the headlights, indicators, horn, wipers, fan and window washer etc. and has been disconnected from the fuse box throught to the front of the car.

He will be using a different engine loom as it's an mi, so the coil bit etc will be coming out of the auto loom ready for the transplant.

Thanks,

John

It should be very similar, all it might be missing that I can think of are the driving lights connectors.

yeah it would be the same i would have thought, best thing to do is to just check you have the right number of connectors and that the connector plugs are the same as the ones you are removing and also as a final check check the wire numbers and it should be fairly obvious that the looms are the same bar the possibly the driving lights as pugtorque said

Super Josh

As Graham says, lack of driving light supply/relay. The auto loom also has a relay that controls the starter inhibitor for when the auto box isn't in park or neutral, you can just remove the relay and bridge the contacts or cut and crimp the wires. The reverse light wires are also in this loom, whereas on a GTi they are in the engine management loom, so you will need to swap the wires that go into the two brown multiplugs near the ECU.

Best of luck,

Josh
