Quick Question!

Right, trying to get my engine out today, everything is disconnected other than the bastard drivers side driveshaft, now ive tried knocking it out to no avail, and ive tried removing the rear mount, but i cant get that off due because the shaft running frmm gearbox to the rear mount does'nt have enough give, so i cant get the mount of the locating tabs

So, has anyone ever tried removing the engine with the right hand drive shaft still on?, it looks as though the CV joing does'nt have enough movement, but anyone tried it?

Thanks James.

Have you undone the 2 bolts that hold the bearing into the rear mount? They are easy to miss.

I found that I had to put a lever between the mount and the cv joint to force the bearing out of it's housing.

If all else fails, pull back the inner cv boot and give the hub a good pull. Separates the two halves of the drive shaft. Carefull when it first separates as the bearing races and needle rollers can fall off. Wrap a ring of masking tape around them and fix a carrier bag to the shaft ends to stop dirt going in. Works for me!

In the end i decided to just split the driveshaft in 2 as steve@cornwall suggested, There was so much grease in there, the bearings had no chance of escaping -_-

Engine now out :D

Thanks for all the replies!
