Connections On Bx16v Loom

Recommended Posts

Ryan

I've got a couple of spare connections left on the BX loom.

The first is near the ignition coil. Is this just for connecting a supressor, or is it important?

The 2nd is near the yellow and brown plugs that connect the injector loom with the ECU loom.

Finally can anyone shed any light on this?

It's just a resistor in a plastic holder. I'm told it has something to do with altering the ECU settings for different fuel octanes. But the only info I can find relates to Vauxhalls (some of which use the 4.1 ECU)

1 - yes thas for a suppressor, leave it dangling it'llbe fine

2 - f*** knows, never connected it on mine and that worked fine

3 - dunno, never seen one of those but if you find anymore info on it, please post.

Some info here

Not sure if the feature is enabled in the Citroen ECU though. The fact that there is something plugged in suggests it might be, but I don't know if the values given are the same?

I think will be the injection coding resistor, seen them mentioned in the haynes wiring diagrams & on some looms in other cars.

Does it bell out to any ecu pins?

Graham.

It's connected to pins 4 (diagnostic socket), and 14 (injector pulse).

I vaguely remember on our old one that if something was left connected the engine wouldn't spark, but disconnected it was fine. IIRC it was the same as the 2nd one there.

Yep thats right its an injection coding resistor :D

Isnt it just for checking fault codes? dont think you can read fault codes on the bx ecu without it, i could be completely wrong tho :(

I asked about it when I was at the Citroen dealer last week. The parts guy looked at me like I was speaking Hungarian. :(

Once the car is up and running I'm going to fully investigate it. I'll try different resistor values and see if it affects the idle speed and ignition timing as in the link I gave.

Being able to swap to running on 95ron would be handy...

Did it have one of the resistors fitted?

If not then that matches up with the info I have saying it should run fine on 95ron.
