Coil Head Scratcher

Recommended Posts

Guest mitchtech

I have transplanted a 1.9 8v engine into my 1.6 205gti.

Looking at the donor car, i see that it has a traditional looking externaly mounted coil. but my old 1.6 has the coil mounted on the top of the inlet manifold.

Could anyone advise on what i do as regards wiring a coil up etc please?

Or do i just bolt my old 1.6 inlet manifold/coil assembly on?

yeah keep the original mani/coil/loom, all you need in terms of electrics from the 1.9 is the ecu/afm/distributor

Shouldn't be really.

Fit the engine to the car & not the car to the engine, swapping parts to suit as required.
