No Fuel From Injectors!

Recommended Posts

Guest djsimba1982

Hi, i have a phase 1 205 1.6 gti with rally kit fitted, i recently put a 1.9 engine from a phase 1.5 car in it, only i cant get the thing to start.

There is a goork on 4 cylinders, there is fuel in the rail, pressure is good, if you put a bit of petrol down each of the cylinders replace plugs then it will start for a second. ive taken the injectors out and turned the engine over to see if they are spraying fuel, Nothing.

Ive searched the forums and found a couple of people who had the same problem and changed the Tachometric relay and its worked but ive tried 3 relays now and none of them make any difference. i know at least 2 of them are working ok.

ive tried a different distributor, still nothing. ive checked the wiring against the diagram in the haynes book, it all seems to be correct.

Tried another ECU,

Im starting to lose my patience with it now, any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks. :)

From your story i cant really make out if your pump is still working. Can you hear it working when you crank the engine?

Yea, the fuel pump is working, you can hear it when cranking the engine over. The injectors are ok as when you touch a power source to the pins inside them it fires fuel through and the engine ran fine in the old car before i took it out. just wondering what power is supposed to come through the injector wires, when ive tested with a bulb, both the wires are giving negative but when you crank the engine over they both change to positive pulses that isnt very strong, surely 1 should still be a negative? i think it must be a wiring problem somewhere. Thanks

Had a similar sounding problem with my recent mi16 install, and it turned out to be a knackered crank sensor. Must have got knocked while putting engine in.

The fact that all four injectors aren't firing is sort of a good thing from a diagnosis sense. Look for things common to all injectors. Bad earth, wiring from the tachy relay.

You say that you've checked the wiring, what exactly did you check? Was there continuity and was the resistance of the connections good?

If there is a good spark etc, then focus on the fuel injectors alone.
