BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted May 6, 2006 I want the front suspension from a GTi on my lil XS and would like to know what might (and most probably will) go wrong... ie will the subframe bolt straight on?, 1.6 or 1.9 hubs?, ive also been hearing horror stories about gear linkages too... any info welcome... danpug 1 Posted May 6, 2006 Subframe will bolt straight on, i'd personally try to get hold of 1.9 hubs to allow for easy brake upgrades. Can't see what issues there would be with gear linkages providing you use the gti rods??
BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted May 6, 2006 will GTi linkages fit a MA box? dont gti's have lift up reverse, and MA's dont...
Jer309GTi 3 Posted May 6, 2006 Only the earlier GTi's have lift up reverse. The linkages are different between GTi's and TU engined cars. I did a long search because I was planning to do this to my XS. Heres a couple of topics... search search Hope this helps

BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted May 6, 2006 slightly off topic here but would a 309gti rear axle rub excesivly on an XS with 15" speedlines, as its got a wider track?
Ahl 4 Posted May 6, 2006 Yes, it would. 15" speedlines on an XS rub with the standard beam anyway.
BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted May 6, 2006 well if i had a 309gti axle on it, how could i stop it rubbing?, roll the arches? if so whats that invole?
Ahl 4 Posted May 6, 2006 well if i had a 309gti axle on it, how could i stop it rubbing?, roll the arches? if so whats that invole? No, you'd need to seriously cut away the arches and put something like add on Rallye arches over them.
