Creaking From Rear .

Recommended Posts

kyepan

Hi there,

Fitted my recon beam and group a mounts 2 weeks ago, about a week ago, going over a speed bump it creeked a bit.. its been getting more creeky by the day...

you can stand next to the car and push the rear qtr pannel latteraly and it squeaks... it also sq2ueaks going over bumps, round bends on changes of surface... its not to big a worry, just wondering if there is somehting i need to put grease on.. or tighten.. as it all seemed good when it went on.

incedentaly got the beam from Jay, somone on here reconned it, but not sure who..

any help or advice appreciated as usual..

cheers

Justin.

check all the bolts are nipped up tight. Shock bolts, mounting bolts etc. Mine had a dodgy rattle for a while. Turned out to be loose bolts.

Could be silly little things, badly adjusted boot stop rubbers (one each side) or the spare wheel cage isn't tight (I had this on an old 205 & assumed the worst).

Rear discs brakes can make noises when you push on the back end with the hadbrake on, does it do it whilst driving?

Graham.

^ i'd start by checking the h'brake cables aren't starting to seize - common problem and can cause all sorts of creaking noises at the back

Ps what are shock bolts?

Will start working through all of the possibles.

Cheers

Did you tighten the shock absorber mounting bolts once the car was on it's wheels? If not it could be the extra stress on the rubbers?

If you get stuck and want someone to have a look at the beam and check that there is nothing untoward, then I'm only a few miles down the M4 from you :)

I had the same thing when i reconned the rear beam on my old 1.9.

My problem was that I stuck to the the old shocks. When a new pair of shocks went on the squeek went away.
