Wurzel 16 Posted May 5, 2006 I recently picked up a stainless system from Lasergreen gti (cheers fella )and fitted it to my car. It's the older style sleeve fitting type and the back box has quite a long piece of pipe coming from the rear of it to connect to the centre section. The tail pipe is not exactly to my liking (I'm about 18 years too old for it) and even the local saxo driving chav commented on how big it was sarcasticly. After I gave him a good kicking, I realised he was right, so I'm on the lookout for alternative boxes. I would ideally like to keep the box I have as it is, ie not cut it up so if there is a box that has a longer specific pipe on it, that would be best. Has anyone carried out such a swap? If so, what did you use. I'm guessing that I might have to cut the box I have and use some sort of universal box I might be clutching at straws here but if anyone has any advice, let rip
hengti 2 Posted May 5, 2006 not sure i get your gist, but, if you're looking to keep the box and loose the tailpipe, you could take it round to one of those stainless steel exhaust fabrication outfits (have you got a Longlife anywhere near you?) - there are a few around who make their own systems and they tend to have a large selection of tailpipe options - you could choose a new one and have them replace the existing one they could also lengthen/shorten the back box -> system pipe
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted May 6, 2006 Trim the centre section connection (backbox or centre pipe) to hide it better? Was the Spaxo driver commenting about a homeless person living in the tailpipe or just that it sticks out? Graham.
Wurzel 16 Posted May 6, 2006 Good idea about taking to a longlife centre, I was considering a system from them before coming across the one I have. It might be the easiest and cheapest option. There's no hiding the tail pipe I have unfortunately and Graham, you're right on both counts
