Can someone tell me as i have an '87 1.6 non sunroof on a private plate, had thought it would be an early 105bhp engined model, certainly doesn't feel as nippy as the later 1.6s i've had, but now not sure after doing a quick search as it seems it may be on the changeover? I'll add registration dates and more details later when have access to them!!

Thanx, Barry.

The changover was when the 1.9 came out. The 105bhp engine got the same head as the new 1.9 which put it's power up to 115.

According to the first page of the Haynes manual that was Aug 86.

I think the 115bhp engine was released before the 1.9 (according to Sporting 205's, 115bhp engine June 1986, 1.9 GTi December 1986) but I'm sure Miles has said the 115bhp engine was fitted even earlier than that as his first 205 had on a C plate (85-85).

I am sure the 105 bhp engine does not have the oil breather hose on the cam cover that goes to the sump...(speaking from experience).

Anyone else find this?

Having not seen under the bonnet of a 105bhp engined GTi I'm not sure but from the odd picture I've seen of them I think you might be right.

Looking on the parts cd here (& iirc) it doesn't have the breather to the throttle body either.

Phils' right re-the engine breather as even the oil filler at the skirt of the block differ's too, Different instruments, No side repeaters and different waasher bottle and nice hard suspension, The 115bhp version came out on the 1 April 1986 (Fact as I had one)

Don;t worry about the engine, Some go well others are cr*p and you could walk faster!!
