Clutch

Recommended Posts

I am confused.

i got a clutch kit today to fit to my be3 box. But the splines on the cover look different. They seem to me like it should be pulled to operate rather than the one I had needing to be pushed?

Whats the deal here?

I have searched but really just got confused.

Any help greatly appreciated as want to put new engine in at weekend and want to change the clutch tomorrow if it cant be sorted in any way.

Cheers

The pull type will have the release bearing fixed onto the clutch plate, itll be a weird shape thing that spins round. it will be obviouse if u have this type of clutch.

when refiting , u have to manipulate the fork bhind the bearing as i fit the box. To get the box off in the start you would of had to remove the arm from the top of the gearbox. when i fitted my gti6 box i kept the pull type clutch and it felt great, however i beleive u can fit either clutch so long as u change to the correct arm and fork mech on the gearbox.

Still confused as my clutch cable i just undone is pulling the arm towards the bulk head of the car.

But the clutch is obviously of the different sort. The one I have just taken off is with the splines going out from theplate with a seperate bearing. But the clutch i have just got is of the sort with the bearing attached to theplate. ahhhhh

Sorry for being dumb

Sounds like you ordered the clutch to match your engine, which would get you a 306 pull type clutch. Go back and change it for a mi16 clutch.

(assuming you want to keep your current clutch system)

That has been my thought. The part number they list seems to be the same for both engines!!! I looked it up on the website and hence quoted it to them, but on the box of the clutch it has the same number but lists xantia's and 306's. Ill give em a call. Just wanted to make sure i didnt have anything strange in my set up.

Thanks

Went to fit my second clutch from eurocarparts today and once again its the wrong one!

This time they have given me a 200mm diameter one! but this time with the right style cover.

Does anyone know what Valeo part number is the clutch i need to have an mi16 clutch kit with the cover plate which is NOT integral with the thrust bearing. (splines point away from the clutch plate)

Need to get this clutch sorted for Tuesday as am putting the engine in.

Thanks
