New Underdash Brown Multiplug Connectors?

Recommended Posts

Anthony

Just a quick question, but does anyone know where you can buy new connectors and pins for the underdash brown multiplugs (the two that link the interior loom to the engine management loom, and the sensors, ignition, starter etc wires run through)?

Want to use new connectors rather than bodge old ones when building the new loom, but would rather keep the standard connector style so that it's easy to revert back to a standard engine loom if that makes sense.

Super Josh

I assume that you need the male blade terminals? I haven't looked at a dash loom for a few weeks  I've just measured one and they are 5mm wide by 27mm long. Vehicle Wiring Products list part number 3-1901 here. 15p each or £5.91 for one hundred( although you would need to make sure they are correct, i've only made a quick check ). I would reuse the housing off an old loom, it's not like they get grubby, like the under bonnet ones. You could probably still get them from Pug, if you didn't want to butcher an old loom

I could find similar, but not identical connectors on there last time I checked

Don't have an old loom to hand that I actually want to butcher - could go and grab one from the scrappy easily enough, but for the sake of a £1 odd connector I was just going to buy one.

Just a case of finding where get them from as they seemed to be a slightly oddball connector that I couldn't find from VWP and the like. Didn't know Peugeot sold the connectors on their own mind you, so cheers for that...

I bought some from VWP for less than a quid each and used them to link the Emerald loom to the std plugs under the dash - they come with pins etc and are easy to use.

I might be missing something, but none of those connectors look like the standard one? I want to keep the standard connectors type so that down the line I could revert back to a standard loom if I wanted/needed to without having to do more chopping and crimping.

I would give the pug dealer a bash

Or

I recently "acquired" a Skoda/Seat/VW/Audi Parts CD, they list all the connectors from 1925 (or something stupid like that) to 2005. I did notice some ECU connectors as well (or at least looked very much like a XU9 ECU connector).

There not expensive either - i've ordered a 4 pin connector for a combo MAP/air temp sensor @ £1 something from my local VW dealer.

I hope it comes with pins -_-

did anyone get some connectors in the end?

just wondering if anyone had obtained the part numbers for the suitable connectors to put on the end of the engine ecu and sensor looms (2 brown plugs under the dash)

The ECU pin's and sensor pin's are just boggo std Bosch plug's so most garages etc will supply them,

I;ve looked around for the connector's Ant's on about and have never found anything even at my last company I worked for didn't have anything with loads of info to hand.
