sonofsam 5 Posted May 2, 2006 The general consescus is to use an MI16 flywheel and clutch, although i made up a 5mm gearbox to engine spacer plate to use the turbo flywheel, thats been binned now though. yes i have done this quite recently, the more recent being Ant on this forum too

sonofsam 5 Posted May 2, 2006 can you use the origional 19 gti clutch?also did you use the xm inlet?and wot intercooler an where did you put it?cheers ian No,its probally to small, and wont be able to handle the torque.Yes im using the engine in its standard form(for now) hehe i've tryed many IC's !! lot of people drop the radiator and fit a sierra cosworth intercooler above,im going for an MR2 IC in the front valance
macamizer 0 Posted May 2, 2006 sounds good mate,im using rs turbo ic,mounted over the gearbox with sum ducting to create airflow, also mappable ecu as one of the apprentices thru my ecu, keypad an wiring harness out, wait till i get hold of the little s--t
sonofsam 5 Posted May 3, 2006 sounds good mate,im using rs turbo ic,mounted over the gearbox with sum ducting to create airflow, also mappable ecu as one of the apprentices thru my ecu, keypad an wiring harness out, wait till i get hold of the little s--t That could of been a blessing in disguise, standard ECU wont take much boost hike before it throws a wobbly and goes into safe mode Going to be tight isnt it with that IC in that position, some ducting would be cool ( pun intended ) If you need some cold air feeds for your valance, let me know,i may know were you can get some cheap
Ant 2 Posted May 3, 2006 My conversion should be up and running ( rather than just starting ) sometime. Ive used a Cossy 2wd IC.. Do a search. They are very wide though. The only place i could find to mount it, using a standard rad, was above the rad. Ive used Mi16 Flywheel and clutch. They do pop up from time to time in the for sale section. Do a search. I think Jacobs put a post a while back about modifiying the box to take the 2.0 flywheel. Most stuff has been covered here. Its just trial and error. Ie my exhaust took me 3 attempts to line up perfectly of putting it on, checking the angle, taking a bit more off, checking again etc. Its all doable if you have a few tools - just time consuming
macamizer 0 Posted May 3, 2006 cheers for the info, changed my mind today, lowered my rad and have about 12cm above the rad now,so i thinck im using the 2wd cozzy ic,just need to find out about this lower engine mount, yeah no wot your sayin about trial n error, but have my own garage/buisness so all the time n tools ramps welders i need, luckily, ill keep ya posted n no doubt be picking your brains soon
