bobob 0 Posted May 2, 2006 I have a knocking sometimes from the suspension at the front. So far i have changed (on both sides); - wishbones - drive shafts - droplinks - top mounts - springs Can anything else make a slight knock? Cheers for any help.
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted May 2, 2006 Wheel bearing, hubs (oval where mating to wishbone), anti-roll bar bushes?. I'm chasing something similar and have done struts, springs, top mounts, top mount bearings and driveshafts so far and have a wishbone in the boot! Also tried removing the anit-roll bar drop link on that side... Rob P.S. Having said that the front suspension needed a re-build anyway.
Anthony 1,003 Posted May 2, 2006 Check the front subframe bolts are tight!
jackherer 543 Posted May 2, 2006 I am also chasing a similar knock, one thing to check thats not been mentioned is the gearbox mount under the battery, I've known the two locating nuts to come loose which allows some movement.
Ahl 4 Posted May 2, 2006 If it has 1.6 bendix calipers then the brake pads can knock. The steering rack can also knock when knackered as can the track rod ends.
bobob 0 Posted May 2, 2006 Blimey, looks like i got my work cut out then! Cheers for all the replies. Its a 1.9 so in theory i should be able to rule out the brake pad knock.
