Guest Big Daz Posted May 1, 2006 We are currently running approx 50 - 75 bhp Nitrous Oxide shots on our track car (progressive controller), but it appears after 4 hours of track time on Saturday that a tip has melted on one of the plugs. What plugs could I use that are stronger & run cooler? Just got std ones in atm Cheers Daz
jonD6B 0 Posted May 1, 2006 It's a tough one beacause you're not running the same temps. all the time. Do a Google search on plugs and see what comes up. Try looking at the NGK and Champion ranges. I drive hard all of the time and I use Bosch 4's without any issues.
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted May 1, 2006 I know Greenmachine off here (Mike) ran nos on his goodwood and used some HKS plugs iirc, quite expensive though.
Guest Big Daz Posted May 1, 2006 Can anyone tell me what plugs are std in the 1.9? ngk number or something similar? Cheers Daz
Ryan 99 Posted May 1, 2006 (edited) I know Greenmachine off here (Mike) ran nos on his goodwood and used some HKS plugs iirc, quite expensive though. Those HKS plugs are just re-branded Denso plugs, which HKS just print their logo on and sell for 5 times the price. I wouldn't let them near my car. One fell apart inside my mate's 200sx and cost him £5k. The same thing happened to somebody else a few months before as well. base-1 17 Posted May 1, 2006 Std NGK plugs for 1.9 8v are BCP7ES if I remember right. Don't go anywhere near Bosch Super 4's, they will most likely kill your engine when you use the gas. Cheap and simple upgrade - std ERST plugs, BC8ES, should cope OK

jackherer 543 Posted May 2, 2006 I know that Wizek used to swear by Iridium tipped plugs when he ran a lot of gas. They are not cheap though. http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technic...spark_plugs.htm Denso Iridium tip - click to enlarge Notable properties of Iridium are its melting point - approximately 2450 degrees C
Guest Big Daz Posted May 5, 2006 Ok, I have ordered some iridium ones, heat range 9 so 2 ranges cooler than current ones. We will give them a go & see Daz
Bally 4 Posted May 10, 2006 Champion's C57 or C59, . C57 being the colder plug, equivalent to a ngk 10. I run c57 with my Nos with no problems. But you may also be running too much advance. If you are melting plugs, you will soon damage a piston..
Martin@PRD 0 Posted May 10, 2006 I have also used denso .4 plugs, never had a issus running with Gaz
base-1 17 Posted May 13, 2006 Whats ERST mean?BC8ES - Is this a NGK type? Cheers Darren Escort RS Turbo, sorry. They're about 2 quid each, unless you are running silly amounts of nitrous you really don't need to spend 100 quid on spark plugs.
