Owain1602 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I am converting to carbs so am going to take the original injection loom out, so i have unplugged all the sensors and wires for the loom which goes accross the engine. I have the cabling that goes from the battery +ve terminal to the starter then to the alternator, but i dont seem to have anything else to provide a feed for the rest of the car from the battery, but i noticed a weird 2 pin plug by the battery with 2 thick brown wires in it,it also appears in the fuse board so i connected this to my battery +ve, is this correct, if not, what should supply the rest for the systems with a supply? Also, i cant seem to get the lights working. If i switch on the hazards the relays are clicking, the switch and display on the dash is flashing but the lights dont flash, if i connect a test lamp from battery -ve to the bulb holders +ve and -ve it flashes, this is at each bulb and the bulbs are not gone. If i turn on the side-lights the interior lights such as switches and dash display light up but no lights outside the car. With the side-lights on all the lamps on the dash display light up (indictator lamps, dip warning lamp, main beam warning and fog lamp warning) Finaly, the indicators dont flash when ignition is on but if i go to the key position between off and ignition on the relays and warning lamps on dash will flash as normal but i wont have any lights flashing out-side and as the dash flashes with the indicators, the gagues go on and off, so if indicator flasher on dash on, gagues go off, and vice versa. Any ideas at all? thanks a lot
Anthony 1,003 Posted April 30, 2006 The two pin brown plug with the two thick brown wires plugs into the positive distribution block (which in turn connects to the battery). This provides power for everything that's connected to the fusebox - basically most the car other than the starter/alternator, radiator fan, and engine management. As for the other problems of various circuits not working and lights doing strange things - have you got the earths connected properly? There should be two thick wires coming off the battery negative terminal - one bolts to the gearbox, and one to the passenger inner wing.
Owain1602 0 Posted May 1, 2006 do you think it would be fairly straight forward to make my own loom for the car?? I dont want all them gagues and warning lamps so it would really only be the loom for my Omex 100 which i have made anyway, and a loom for the lights and wiper motor. Any of you guys done this or have any oppinion about it? cheers
