Jonmurgie 2 Posted April 28, 2006 To have it upright I'd guess you would need to go dry sump as the oil pump and sump are designed to work with the tilt of the engine... there were pictures of a longmans Mi16 posted on here last week and that was mounted perfectly vertical, looked very nice like that but was dry sump It's one of the reasons that the Mi16 isn't used in kit cars (Cater/Fields etc.) as they are too tall with their sump etc. and the angle makes it hard to fit... hence the ford/vauxhall engines are usually used. Sandy 191 Posted April 28, 2006 The XU block also lacks "side" engine mounts and a bellhousing is almost unobtainable.
Guest Red205 Posted April 28, 2006 (edited) The XU block also lacks "side" engine mounts and a bellhousing is almost unobtainable. does anyone have any pics of both sides of the blocks?? Are they any holes on each side that can be used??? so can i modify the sump to make it as shallow as possible and wing the sump to get back some of the oil capacity?? Jonmurgie 2 Posted April 29, 2006 Oh it's no doubt doable... just how much time and money you have is probably the main factor. Would be interesting to see! Here are some pics of the Mi that might help: Front: http://www.mdracing.co.uk/images/enginerem...large/pic53.jpg Back: http://www.mdracing.co.uk/images/mi_install/large/pic47.jpg End: http://www.mdracing.co.uk/images/mi_install/large/pic48.jpg
