Blown A Coolent Pipe!

Recommended Posts

jamesc

Pulled up the drive and steam started to come from the engine bay, have had a look and its the coolent pipe that runs from the bottom of the coolent tank to the bottom of the engine. need one asap?? who to go to?? and how much are these pipes? or shall i bodge it?? :)

this is my first 205 in a few years so i'm a tad rusty!

btw Its a 1.9 93plate

Also does coolent have that rainbow effect like oil? as its either picking up oil as it runs down the engine bay and then onto the floor or i have oil in my coolent tank.. which is not good?

thanks

blowing hoses especially thick ones suggests something a little more serious than just a old perished hose... and the mention of oil in the water...

I would do a compression test before just replacing the hose as you may have Head Gasket leak.

Thanks for your reply,

It was a pin size hole just above the manifold, when you say "serious" what kind of problem?

Cheers

Does it look like it's been rubbing on something?

Check the water in the expansion tank for oil, it could just be the water picking up crap as it runs off the engine, which is almost guaranteed really

It is best to replace it rather than try to fix it.
