Vibration Through Steering At 70-90mph

Recommended Posts

kyepan

Was getting heavy vibrations through the steering, tried tracking balancing, replaced everything in the front suspension including bushes and top mounts / bearings, but it still did it noticably.

Replaced the rear beam bushes and mounts..problem solved :)

It also solved the car changing lanes by itself when accelerating.. most strange..

Took about an hour to change the bushes on the beam when off the car using blowtorch and punch..

And an afternoon to do the beam with two people who had not done it before.

An hour to do the bushes? Good going. It seems to be one of those jobs that can be fairly stright forward or a total bitch. In my case being the latter. How does circa 5 hours sound?

NO! Try a blow torch, hammer, mallet, punch, couple of chisels, various screw drivers that ended up dead, and two of us working on it. My mate is a builder so not exactly weak either. The metal sleeves seemed to be welded in place and just didn't want to come out. On the last one, when we had peened the lip up and were trying to bash something (anything!) in between the sleeve and beam the progress was really slow as no matter what it just didn't want to give way.
