Co2 Reading?

Recommended Posts

matty_gti

just fitted a K&N induction kit that sits behind the passenger headlight. im goin to have the emissions tested and the idle and mixture adjusted as i think its a little out.

I need to know what the standerd co2 reading should be?, and should there be a difference if a K&N is fitted?, If so, what then should the co2 reading be after fitting the K&N?

You should aim for 1.5% CO but to pass an MOT it should be under 3.5%.

Only difference of the K&N that I'm aware of is more noise and more space under the bonnet.

Agreed with above. Around 1.5% although most tuners seem to head for about 2%.

ok, so i should aim for 1.5%. Is there a big difference in performance between 1.5% and 3.5%?. And is there a performance %?.

Sorry with all the silly q's.

We are only talking about the idle mixture here and it is pretty much independent of the "normal running" mixture as it is adjusted on the AFM using an air bleed screw.

CO across the range is hard to adjust and is not needed on a standard car if everything is OK. If not then best replacing/correcting the item in question rather than adjusting something else to try to compensate for the error so that now you have two things in error.

P.S. CO on full throttle will be higher as more power is made with a rich mixture (at the expense of emissions and fuel economy)
