Ahl 4 Posted April 25, 2006 I've got a BE3 mi16 box that im trying to remove the clutch arm from in order to replace the input shaft seal. The pin that holds the arm onto the shaft is threaded on one end and I understand that I can pull the pin out by sticking some washers over it and tightening down with the appropriate nut. I can't find a nut that will fit it for the life of me though! Can someone tell me the correct size of nut to use please? Is the thread a funny pitch? If the nut is not commonally available, is there one on the car somewhere that I can use? ablister 31 Posted April 25, 2006 i tried everything to get the pin out and it just wouldn't budge. Ended up cutting the complete clutch fork in half and ordered a new fork. I have ended up spending £30 in order to fit new 50p bearings lol btw, i don't think you need to remove the clutch fork to replace the input shaft seal Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted April 25, 2006 You can use the good old Pug 11mm headed size Nut, This can be found on the Dizzy etc, You might be lucky and find that it comes out but more often than not I end up cutting the shaft out just as Ablister did, But getting a new shaft and bearings is worth while as it makes the clutch nice and light to use. Ahl 4 Posted April 25, 2006 Thanks for that. I take it the pug 11mm headed nut has a larger ID than your average 11mm nut? I'll look into the shaft and bearings too, but failing that I thought you had to remove the arm in order to replace the input shaft seal on a BE3 gearbox? Ahl 4 Posted April 28, 2006 Just to update, I did manage to get the pin out today, although it couldn't be pulled out. I had to break and remove the fork shaft bushes (but they were worn anyway) and this gave enough clearance to pull out the fork shaft. As I'd still need to remove the clutch arm to get the new bushes in, I pulled it out as much as I could, laid it on a big bit of metal and smacked the pin out. I'll need to get new bushes, but at least I don't need to buy a new shaft. cheers. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
