How To Tell Which Brakes I Have?

Hi I am new to the forum

 

I own a 1989 G Reg 205 1.9 GTI and I am currently buying service Items for the car

 

I am trying to order some uprated brake pads and I am presented with 2 options for the type of calipers for my car, how can i tell (without taking the wheels off as i dont get home until dark and need to order the parts for this weekend!) if i have the Bendix Calipers or the Gerling Calipers??

Hi James and welcome to the Forum

If you have a 1.9 they will be Lucas Girling type brakes.

1.6's were fitted with the Bendix type.

I'm guessing at Bendix as mine are and my car is an 89 1.9 also. You can't really tell without looking at the pads.

 

Ah, just thought, I'm refering to my rears not fronts.
