Toddman 0 Posted April 25, 2006 I need some hard facts here folks What are the differences between the cat and non cat mi engines? I beleived it was mainly the CR which was due to lower height pistons and that the cams are the same but the pulleys are different and then of course the ecus vary. I have now been told by an overseas member of BX 16v that the heads and cranks are different but sadly I only have D6C engines in pieces in my garage. Can anyone point out the facts please. Super Josh 4 Posted April 25, 2006 Well, the parts CD only lists one type of head and crank for the XU9J4. I believe it is all of the differences that you list, Luke. I was lead to believe that the valve springs are different, although the parts CD only lists one type I can't see why Pugeot would use a different crank and head, when the compression is lowered with the pistons. petert 587 Posted April 25, 2006 As said, the pulleys are different (for the better) but has less compression, 9.7:1. Well they're supposed to be, but are in fact closer to 9.5:1. There are small differences in the head castings. You can see a difference around the plug in the chamber between two different castings, but is more likely from different suppliers rather than a different head.
