Red Top 20 Battery

Recommended Posts

Dixon

Having very limited room under my bonnet for a battery I need to move it into the cabin, so was thinking of getting a bit of weight saving in while i'm at it.

Its a track biased car but I still use it to get to work 3 miles away every day.

I have removed rear window heater, radio, air con and power steering from the engine.

But is the Red Top 20 battery large to turn over a 2.0 gti6 lump every day and lights in the winter/night?

Nothing wrong with them ,They crank over (Only used 30's) fine are are allot better quality than normal acid batteries Yes they are mainly found in the racing area, but there's nothing wrong with everyday use. I think mainly the cost rules them out for most.

You'll find this type of battery techonlogy in most IT or Comms rooms provding battery back up via a UPS.

there's no way these batteries have as many starts as a normal battery. I have a few close shaves with my red top 20 and i hadly ever used it

With the 30's they crank over for age's without a single problem, You only need to recharge them every 6 months as per the norm for this type of battery.

I;ve had more luck with storing these over normal car batteries, Maybe I'm just lucky so far

Cool thanks guys, the 30 is a bit on the pricey side at the mo.

I've already well used up my 4k bits budget so don't want to keep going even further beyone it :-s

Was just hoping the cheaper 20 might work, nevermind will bung a massive battery box in there somewhere for now.

Cheers.
