Hi rooster. By door panels I'm guessing you mean the interior door cards? The CTi and GTi cards are different in that as far as I know CTi's were only ever fitted with the 'shorter door cards that leave a couple of inches of painted door showing. I've just fitted some 'full size' GTi door cards to my CTi (also white 1.6 from '87 bought sight unseen off ebay!). It's quite an easy job, but there are a few fiddly bits that need doing. The job involves:

No problem

Not sure what happened to the other half of my reply there! I didn't have a senior moment and nod off half way through, honest!

The bits you need are:

1. Set of GTi door cards

2. Interior door pull trim covers (the ones from your CTi will be too small)

3. Door interior locking pins (thin ones not the fat lego ones in the CTi) plus the caps that they slide through (probably still attached to the door cards best to check though)

4. Interior door handles (phase one ones look crap on the new cards)

5. The plastic clips that the interior door handles screw into (phase one screws go in at an angle later ones go in straight)

6. The patience of a saint and ideally really really small hands to get at the bloody door pin connections :D

End result looks really smart. :D It's also a good opportunity to fit electric windows and central locking if not there already.

put full cards (ph2) on my cti but didn't like it, looked a bit weird with the paintwork showing in the rear, tried to cut down a rear ph2 surround but the inward curve to the hood mech covers didn't match!
