I'm definitely getting a new stereo and this looks like a great idea. USB sticks are about 20 quid for 1Gb these days so i could get a couple of them and have plenty of music.

 

I really like the handfree idea too as i often want to talk while driving.

 

Only thing holding me back is whether my phone will be compatible....and the fact its made by Yamakawa whoever they are!

 

What do you reckon, worth £120?

how does the hands free thing work then. there's no info about it???

 

Lots of good features but it won't be amazing sounding. not that anything sounds good in a 205. I hardly ever listen to the radio in the car as i'm paranoid about hearing a new squeak or rattle!

Yama who!?! I believe you get what you pay for and this looks like a 'gadget' heavy piece of pooh... just buy a proper headunit (Alpine)

i agree with jon, stick with a brand that is well known, as one which is not known, could mean very bad sound quality and made badly. pay out a wee bit more like £50 and get a decent uk one which will come with warranty aswell!

Sure it's got plenty of features, but none of them are worth a penny if it sounds like s*it. Really good idea though, being able to transfer tunes by memory stick.

yeah it is a good idea, plenty of new headunits coming out at the moment also have this feature, i belive the Memory Card idea is better, less likely to go wrong, the SD Card design has also been used in some new cars i believe!

Must say Im loving the idea of a usb port on the front, far better idea than memory cards coz every bloody thing i buy needs a different type of memory card, so far I have stick things in my camera, oldshool microdrive thingys for my old camera, SD in my old phone and these tiny things in my new phone, wish they'd bloody standardise.

Ok its not looking good then. Its annoying because theres no way i can test it beforehand and i'd hate to buy something and have it sound awful.

 

Ok i'll just get a second hand kenwood jobbie i think.

A mate of mine is selling a Sony 'Stealth'. I know it's a good one as it used to be mine and it's hardly had any use. I don't know for sure what he wants for it but I'm guessing around £80. (If he's still got it).

Ive got a kenwood foldy downy outy thing that I got free of a mate coz the CD bit is f***ed, for some reason it only plays aerosmith CDs, but im not that fussed coz im quite a fan. Radio is s*ithot and its gotta be the best stero for useability (way way better than my alpine 9812) and sounds almost as good as the alpine. Currently in pieces as im halfway through modifying it to take a linein from my ipod (im too cheap to pay £25 to halfords for an adaptor)

u can get headunits serviced for fairly cheap, bout £50 i believe....try contacting kenwood

yeah I looked into that, but at the moment it owes me nothing, so if it gets nicked when my car is in scally-chavs-ville i wont be too upset (I had my car broken into 3 or 4 times where i was living last summer, never any damage, Id just get back and find the car was unlocked and someone had had a root through the crap in the footwells).
