M@tt 77 Posted April 23, 2006 is the one you've replaced it with a new starter or another 2nd hand one? reason being is same happened to me last weekend, the solenoid stuck therefore engaging the starter and despite turning off the ignition the starter kept going , que lots of smoke and burning smells. brand new starter fixed it. jack biscuit 0 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) engage first gear, do not start engine.. walk to the front of your car, rock it backwards and forwards. it will free up.. sorry.. electrical fault? Edited April 23, 2006 by jack biscuit
roland rat 11 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) its a new brand new starter motor.when ever i turn it over it starts but then wont stop.its not the starter motor cos its the second new motor in as many days!!this prob is starting to hurt my head, lol forgot to mention think it might be a dodgy earth or ignition barrel Edited April 23, 2006 by roland rat
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted April 23, 2006 If its not disengaging then it probably is ignition barrel related as it means the solinoid is still getting power when it shouldnt as its a switched live. Try a different ignition barrel.
roland rat 11 Posted April 24, 2006 just an update its sorted!wasnt the starter motor or the ignition switch was a dodgy immoboliser.it was supplying the starter with 12 volts all the time!
