willxs 0 Posted April 23, 2006 im refurbing a 1.6 beam and was going to stick the 1.9 brakes etc onto it from the shafted 1.9beam on my car. ive done a search for changing from drums to disks and it all seemed straight forward until they mentioned having to change the stub pins. so basically how is this done? is it anything to do with the alan key bolt in the back? Cheers, will
Wurzel 16 Posted April 23, 2006 They are 'pressed' in. I have knocled them out and in with a lump hammer before but you need to be carefull about not damaging the threads. Fit the old hub nut on the end and hit that. Pressing is deffo the preferred option though and if they are apart easier to do
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted April 23, 2006 Like Nick says, protect the end of the stub axle & a lump hammer will easily drive them out. Tha hardest part about the swap is removing the backplates as the allen bolts holding them to the radius arm can round off as you undo them & cause no end of trouble. If you can get them out Ok though its all easy. Graham.

Jim miami blue gti 0 Posted April 25, 2006 what are the allen keyholes on the back of them for?
willxs 0 Posted April 25, 2006 i guess its to turn the pin so the splines line up correctly... so when you press them in, they dont mess them up?
