kyepan 291 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) Hi there, jay helped me change the rear beam yesterday. how did you get the central strap/bracket connected to the heatshield off.. we had to undo the two nuts holding the strap on the beam, and the one on the heatshield, then level the metal bracket open with a big screw driver. we could not get it to lever back afterwards and so had to angle grid it off and put the nut back on the heatshield. other than that fitting the group a mounts and gaz coilovers was a not toooo bad. PsychoSimon 0 Posted April 23, 2006 thats exactly what i had to do as well. the strap is't needed, IIRC not all 205's have them, Regards, Simon
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 24, 2006 I took the beam off complete with the strap and the long bit of metal that you are reffering to as it's only held on by 3 bolts. I then levered it apart like you to remove it from the beam. When refitting, I was convinced that the long bit of metal didn;t actually need to be refitted under the petrol tank but thought I'd put it back just to be safe. Didn;t bother with the strap for the beam though as everyone agress it's usless.
jonD6B 0 Posted April 24, 2006 I left it position and just undid the nut holding the heat shield and prised it over then just bent it back for refitting. I was going to remove it but the two nuts at the other end looked like they were going to be a sod so I've left them for now.
