bren_1.3 1 Posted April 21, 2006 anyone aware of uprated brakes to fit under 13inch wheels??? im using base model hubs. i assume a 266mm disc would go under the wheel....although am doubtful of a 285mm.
Guest smokinslim Posted April 21, 2006 If 266mm will fit then gti-
Butler 0 Posted April 21, 2006 266mm only just fit under a 14" wheel.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted April 21, 2006 247mm only just clear under some 13's. There is no way a GTi-6(283mm) brake set up will fit under anything smaller than a 15' wheel. Graham.
danpug 1 Posted April 21, 2006 My 266mm setup wouldn't fit under my 1.6 alloys, well it did but the car wouldn't move!
base-1 17 Posted April 21, 2006 Looking at your avatar, you're going rallying? Ring AP up and they'll sort you out some low-profile 4 pots and discs to fit under some 13s
DaveW 6 Posted April 22, 2006 1.6 calipers with 1.9 247mm discs fit just....

DaveW 6 Posted April 23, 2006 its the cailper you gotta worry about the 1.6 cailper was quite close to the wheel! but it all fits fine under 13' steelies
mi16nut 0 Posted April 24, 2006 Alcon make some of the best brakes out there, but they're not cheap; think AP prices at least. The 205 Group A kitwas Alcon if I remember correctly. For cheaper, look at Wilwood or Hi-Spec four pots. Mark.
base-1 17 Posted April 27, 2006 (edited) Alcon are the absolute bollocks, best in the business. They don't supply half the WRC for nothing If you can afford it, do it. Edited April 27, 2006 by base-
bren_1.3 1 Posted April 27, 2006 i shall look into alcon further then. another option i thought about was austin metro 4 pot calipers. i know the mini boys use them quite alot as a braking option.
