Filter King

Hi, im just finalising the last stages of my carb installation when i get time. Can you guys let me know if the filter king with the 85mm glass bowl and pressure range from 1-10psi will work fine with the standard fuel pump for my twin 40s DCOE? How does this regulator work then, as i know it doesnt return any fuel back to the tank.

How do people normaly wire up the fuel pump for carbs? I presume they ditch the tachometric relay and either wire it straight to an ignition feed or is it best to wire it from a permenant live through a switch or something? Thanks guys.

Hi was looking at a Weber carbs site from USA and there was a point about the Webers need a high flow low pressure pump were as the 205 pump will be high pressure low flow. By using the Filter king (if I got this right) will allow for even less flow.

this is the site:

RACETEP

And this is the page about pumps:

PUMP

I think these pumps will be hard to get, but there is a new electric pump out for the likes of MGB's which may be very close.

I just use a Facet fuel pump and the FK reg set to around 5psi. Believe the pump is wired direct to the ignition (pump starts to prime when you turn the ignition on, before turning the car over). Not sure if thats the correct way to do it, but it was as I got it.

You will need a facet silver top pump and the filter king for your setup! Pump in kit price are about £70 from what i remember.

I'm running a mechanical pump being a TU boy:-D

But I would consider looking into having a cut off switch connected to a oil pressure switch somewhere.. the thought of being in an accident and having the fuel pump continue to spue fuel out is not a níce thought...

I run a 1.9 GTI with twin 40's and i can reccomend the Carter 4070 fuel pump.

You don't need a regulator as it pumps at the correct pressure.

They're easy to order, i got mine from that very shop by mail order and the staff were very helpful.
