Wiring Problem

Recommended Posts

Rally Slag

OK i just purchesed another 205 gti 1.9, this is my 2nd one, i rote my 1st one of in an accident. I just bin removing all the old alarm and imbeliser that didnt work and repairing the wiring loom. I've done everything and got a few wires I cant work out. 1st of someone has put in there own wire for the starter motor solenoid, now its just hanging down inside the car and the other end is on the solenoid, this hole wire is deffanatly not the original wire, someone has added it. Can someone please tell me where the original wire should be and what colour it is etc.

2nd problem, in the fuse box i have 2 wires which i dont know where they go after i cut the alarm off, there is a yellow wire and white wire, both wires are pretty thick, not really big, but bigger than the other wires in the fuse box. I started of by removing all the crap from the drivers side 1st, once i done this the car would still start (i had to short out the starter wire that someone has fitted mentioned above, to get it to crank over) but the car would start, now i've removed everything from the fusebox the car wont start. I dont think the yellow and white wires are ment to join together, but i cant see where they should go, anyone got any ideas?

last problem, when the car is running, all the lights on the car flicker, and i mean every light, clock light, interior light, dash lights, everything, anyone got any ideas on this? dont think its a dodgy alternator because i drove the car home on a 3 hour drive with lights and wipers on and it never died so.

oh by the way the car is a phase 2 on a J plate if that helps, cheers chris

The solenoid is connected to the ignition switch via the 'brown' multi plug! This connector can cause problems with the starter solenoid, so people (like myself!) replace the original wiring to over come this problem. I've fitted an extra relay and starter button.

If I remember correctly the orignal wire is a light blue colour.

Mad. :)

cool, now you cna have all the same wiring problems as the rest of us

brown multiplug has feeds for starter, dials, altenator, warning lights, etc, the contacts corrode and stuff stops working.
