Electric Window Fitting - Passenger Side

Recommended Posts

Guest woll

Hi,

Just got hold of some electric window mechs. I have a phase 2, 1991 205 1.6 and the drivers door has all the wiring already there but the passenger side doesn't seem to..unless its hidden up behind the dash. I got most of the wiring with the mechs but unfortunately they had been cut off just before where the wires go through the door so I need to try and make up a loom to connect to the fusebox.

These pics show what I have:

First question: should the fuse and relay be there already or if you're not sure how do I identify it in the fuse box. There is one gap on the fuse box relay bits (if relays are the big block things) second from the left.

Second question: if the wires hadn't been cut would they just plug into somewhere behind the dash like the fuse box? will it be easy to solder new wires and connectors up and find where they plug in to?

Third question: is the wiring for the passenger side up inside the dash..please say it is!!

Fourth question: is that other plug for the central locking?

Fifth question: has anyone got any photos of doing this?

Sixth question: do i need to rip the dash out?

Be very grateful if anyone can enlighten me on any of this!! I don't ask too much do i.......

Thanks lots

Oli

1. The fuse and relay were already fitted in mine.

2. The wires go through the door, over the top of the fusebox and plug into a 5-pin connector above and to the right of the glovebox.

3. Yes it is. You don't need to feed anything though to the drivers side or anything annoying like that.

4. Yes

6. No need. Open the glovebox and drop the fusebox down. Then unclip the back edge of the fusebox on the passenger side and lower the fusebox down as much as you can. You need to reach up to the right hand side. It's a bit awkward to reach though.

As my car already has central locking, will I need to change anything or can I just ignore the extra wire/connector?

Thanks for your help ryan

On the 5-pin connector I mentioned 2 pins are for the locking and the other 3 for the window. So if you follow the existing central locking wires then you'll find the plug.

If you remove the existing loom then you can cut the plug off and use it to extend your new window loom to the right length. The plug then has 3 empty slots for the window wires. I can't remember which of the 3 is which off hand, but I can have a look at the weekend.
